The National Community Law Project CIC

This is the website of The National Community Law Project CIC, a beacon of hope for those striving to navigate the complex legal landscape. As a community interest company, it stands firmly on the principle of enabling rights and providing legal support to individuals facing significant barriers in accessing legal assistance. Founded in 2020 by Rev. Dr. Dane Marks and Daniel Onafuwa, it aims to make a real difference in the community.

At the heart of the project is a dedicated team of law students and graduates, driven by a passion for justice and a commitment to help. You will find that these volunteers offer their time and expertise to assist low-income and marginalised individuals who face challenges in accessing legal support. They ensure that case facts and supporting evidence are compiled in a professional manner, presenting each case to legal professionals in the best possible light. This not only aids the clients but also provides invaluable experience for the volunteers, honing the skills necessary for a successful legal career.

Moreover, the project extends its support beyond legal advice. Recognising the technological and logistical barriers that many face, such as access to emails, printers, scanners, or even the internet, the team assists clients in overcoming these hurdles. This ensures that no one is left without the help they require.

Volunteering here provides more than just experience; it immerses you in the realities of legal practice, particularly in serving those who might otherwise be unable to access justice. It is a chance to see the impact of your efforts firsthand and to understand the true value of legal services in a community context. Furthermore, your time here counts as qualifying work experience if you are pursuing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination route, making it an excellent addition to your professional journey.

In essence, this project is not just about legal aid; it is about making a difference. It is about ensuring that the law serves everyone, regardless of their financial situation. So, if you are looking to develop your legal career while making a meaningful contribution to society, this is the perfect place to start. The National Community Law Project CIC is more than a stepping stone; it is a cornerstone in the foundation of a fairer, more just society.
